Daniela and Josh’s Meadowlark Botanical Gardens fall wedding had everything you hope for in a November celebration – perfect weather, beautiful views, and a whole lot of happy energy. From the quiet moments with family early in the day to the packed dance floor that closed out the night, this one was indeed a joy to photograph from start to finish.
Daniela spent her morning getting ready at the hotel with her mom and sisters. It felt exactly like the comfort of home for her. They’ve always done hair and makeup together. So having that familiar routine on the wedding morning set such a relaxed tone.
She saved her gown for Meadowlark, finally slipping into her ballgown and shoes with her mom once we arrived. Things started to run behind (not helped by the hotel losing power just as they finished getting ready!). But as an experienced Northern VA wedding photographer, I knew this was a normal part of every wedding day! I knew our schedule for the day like the back of my hand and with a few adjustments, we got back on schedule.
The Great Lawn was glowing with that soft mid-November light when Josh turned around to see Daniela. It was emotional, happy, and over in an instant, but it kicked off the rest of the day with such good energy.
We stayed out there for portraits with Lake Caroline behind them. It’s certainly one of the most iconic spots at Meadowlark. These two were complete naturals, relaxed from the very first pose. During portraits, their dogs joined in for a few photos too. Dressed in their tiny suit and flower collar, they were adorable!
Their Atrium at Meadowlark indoor wedding ceremony felt bright and welcoming, framed by a wooden arch decorated with peach and pink flowers. Daniela and Josh shared their vows, broke the glass, and walked back up the aisle beaming while their family cheered them on.
Their reception design kept that same warm, colorful feel overall. It featured pink and peach bud vases, and red table runners for contrast. Daniela shared an emotional dance with her mom; meanwhile, Josh and his mom laughed their way through theirs. Then the hora brought the whole room up to a new energy level.
One of my favorite parts of the night was their private last dance to So Close from Enchanted. Just the two of them, a quiet room, and a breather before heading outside for a phone-flashlight sendoff surrounded by their favorite people.
If you’re planning a Meadowlark Botanical Gardens fall wedding or looking for a Northern VA wedding photographer, I’d love to photograph your day with the same relaxed, joyful approach.
