Hey there! I'm Emily,

a Catholic wedding photographer

based in northern virginia

As a practicing Catholic, I understand and respect the importance of including your faith in your wedding ceremony.

Whether you’re handfasting, receiving communion, reading from the Torah, or simply taking time to pray, celebrating the sacrament of marriage is about so much more than throwing a fun party.

“Do everything in love.” - 1 Corinthians 16:14

My photography journey started while I was still in school, learning to take the family DSLR off “auto” mode. Shortly after, I began shadowing wedding photographers, taking time to soak in every bit of information I could.

At one wedding, I overheard the bride telling her friend that she initially didn’t want a wedding, but it ended up being a good party.

And in that moment, though I didn’t know it yet, Beauty of the Soul Studio was born.

I realized I didn’t just want to photograph a fun party—I wanted to work with couples who knew their wedding was about their marriage.

Now, I’ve taken and edited thousands of photos, and it never gets old.

Because the beauty of a wedding is the connection you have to each other and to the people who matter most to you.

“Do everything in love.” - 1 Corinthians 16:14

My Wedding

I married my best friend Peter in the Catholic chapel at GMU in 2018.

We even had our new marriage blessed by Pope Francis in person during our honeymoon!

My Family

Peter and I have 2 little boys – Felix and Isaac. I’m a SAHM and cherish this time with them!

Peter and I are both cat people. Our cat, Audrey Hepburn, is a tortie with as much personality as any human friend of mine.

How I  Think

I’m drawn to both right and left-brain activities.

I love a good spreadsheet and following a specific process, but I also enjoy art, music, and creativity. Photography is the perfect balance of both!

Travel

Italy - I've visited Rome, Assisi, Venice, Verona, the Dolomites, Ischia, and more. I even blogged about my honeymoon in Italy.

Snacking Weakness

Trader Joe's milk chocolate pretzels, Tillamook mudslide ice cream, and dark chocolate Milky Way bars. Are you sensing a theme?

Influences  & Inspirations

Taylor Swift, classic Disney animation, Broadway musicals, Ray Bradbury stories, and fun fashion brands like Kate Spade and Popflex Active.

client love notes

It was clear from the start that Emily was always on our side and working for us, meaning that her work always demonstrated that she had our best interest at heart.
