Lucy and J met at George Mason University and after years of dating, J popped the question. These two planned to have their big wedding celebration in March of 2020, and were forced to reschedule due to the pandemic. After almost two full years later, they finally had their dream winter wedding celebration with their friends and family! They had a beautiful winter wedding at The Atrium at Meadowlark in Vienna, Virginia.
Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is a very popular venue for spring and summer weddings, for good reason – the gardens are beautiful during those seasons! During the winter months, the gardens are much more dormant so most people don’t think to hold their wedding there. But it’s really a hidden gem of a winter venue because of their annual holiday light display!
Normally, the holiday light display is so popular you can’t even get a permit to hold a portrait session there. However, when you host a wedding there you get free reign of the grounds both before and during the time it’s open to the public.
We were able to slip away during their reception and set up some fun portraits at some of our favorite display sections. These are some of my favorite photos from their wedding day! Plus, the wedding guests got to explore the lights without additional charge during the reception as well, adding a fun activity to the evening.
Their dessert table at their reception looked delicious! In addition to some incredible looking cupcakes from Pastry Xpo Café, they had a variety of homemade treats and a homemade hummingbird cake that they used for their cake cutting.
Lucy and J were such a great couple to work with, and I’m so happy they got to have their dream wedding at the Atrium at Meadowlark! Thank you so much for choosing Beauty of the Soul Studio to capture your wedding day.
