Christy and Kyle met while they were both studying at George Mason University. Kyle and Christy are one of those couples that are just rock solid and clearly perfect for each other. They have the same goofy sense of humor and support each other through years of craziness of life, including the stress of Christy being a nurse during the pandemic.
Christy is a dear friend of mine and I’d been wondering when they would finally get engaged. I was thrilled to get the email from Kyle asking me to photograph it! ! I met Christy after she transferred to my alma mater, Marymount University, my senior year.
She and Kyle had one of my earliest couples portrait sessions. They have been with me throughout my photography career and getting to photograph this moment for them was so special. Christy actually knew my husband before I did, as she was acquainted with him at George Mason University before she transferred. She also sang at our wedding ceremony!
The plan for Kyle’s proposal certainly came with its challenges. The proposal was taking place in the middle of January. Kyle wanted to propose while on a night monument walk after dinner, because they were celebrating their 7 year anniversary. Walking the monuments at night is something they love to do together.
It was very dark, and very cold! I was so glad I thought to bring hand warmers and pack lightly so I could move around while I watched the monument like a hawk from afar; thankfully, Kyle was able to text me pretty freely before their arrival and the proposal went perfectly. Christy had no idea I was photographing them until well after Kyle popped the question! You can see the joy and excitement in her face in these images. I’m so glad they will have these images to look back on and re-live this moment over and over again!
Congratulations to this amazing couple on their engagement!
