When Wed West Studio reached out to collaborate on photographing their custom watercolor wedding invitations, I couldn’t have been more excited! As a wedding photographer, I love capturing details that tell a couple’s love story. Wedding flat lays are undoubtedly one of my favorite ways to showcase those meaningful elements. Wed West’s designs are certainly works of art, and styling them was an absolute dream.
To create these wedding flat lays, I first grabbed my trusted Olive & Oak styling mats. I also ordered a mix of props from Amazon. Wanting to add fresh and organic elements, I visited Trader Joe’s for a cart full of flowers and fruit. The combination of textures, colors, and natural elements helped enhance each invitation suite’s unique aesthetic. I loved making every flat lay feel intentional and beautifully curated.
Each suite had its own personality, but a few stood out as favorites. One of the most striking designs was an elegant black, white, and red invitation suite. It featured the sweetest pair of cherubs on the envelope liner! To match its romantic and sophisticated vibe, I styled it with sleek black and white candles. They added just the right amount of drama and elegance. Another standout was a playful save-the-date featuring the couple’s dogs serving champagne. To enhance the fun, celebratory feel of the card, I paired it with a pink styling mat, champagne glasses, and fresh daisies for a lighthearted, bubbly look.
One of my favorite invitations from Wed West was an Italian Mediterranean-inspired save-the-date. The design featured lemons, pink flowers, and adorable illustrated fish. I had so much fun bringing this one to life by incorporating bright fruit, coordinating flowers, and delicate seashells to emphasize its summery, coastal charm. Every wedding flat lay came with its own creative challenges, from balancing colors to ensuring each prop complemented the suite without overpowering it. But in the end, the results were so worth it!
This collaboration with Wed West Studio was a perfect blend of artistry and creativity. I’m honored to have played a role in showcasing their beautiful designs. Wedding flat lays are more than just styled images. They capture the essence of a couple’s wedding vision in a single frame, and I love getting to be part of that storytelling process!
