Most people planning a wedding will look for a wedding venue first. This can be one of the most overwhelming parts of the planning process! Especially for couples looking for a wedding venue in Northern Virginia, it can be information overload with the abundance of venues within just this seemingly small region. I want to help with that process by listing what I think are the best wedding venues in Northern Virginia. More specifically, here we are looking at the best wedding venues in Loudoun County, Virginia!
Loudoun County has its own abundance of wedding venues in a variety of styles and aesthetics. Vineyards, barns, and historic mansions tend to rule this area, allowing for beautiful views and charming venues. Other areas of Northern Virginia just can’t compete! While these venues are further from Washington, DC than others in the Northern Virginia area, they’re still incredibly convenient to access for out-of-town family due to the presence of Dulles International Airport. Accommodations tend to be more affordable in Loudoun County than closer to DC. There’s also much less traffic to worry about than a wedding in the areas closer to or within DC, particularly for a typical weekend wedding. Loudoun County is one of the best places to get married in Northern Virginia and we absolutely love celebrating weddings here!
With a beautiful farmhouse perfect for the bride’s “getting ready” space, timeless vineyard property for portraits, and charming rustic tasting barn for the main events, The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards in Leesburg is perfect for the couple looking for an elevated rustic wedding venue. The farmhouse has beautiful light and plenty of space to spend the morning hanging out with the girls for hair & makeup before putting on the dress. The expansive property makes for a great outdoor ceremony location. If you’re planning a church wedding in Leesburg or the surrounding areas, it’s easy to travel to and from the venue throughout the day as needed. The vineyards are located very close to the buildings on property which is convenient for making the most of your portrait time, plus the areas around the buildings are gorgeous on their own! We also love that there’s a separate space on the lower level of the main building for dinner. Your guests can enjoy cocktail hour upstairs while the tables for dinner are being finalized. Then return upstairs for plenty of room to dance and mingle. As an added plus, there is seating great for those older or less outgoing guests). The upstairs space is rustic, with the most charming string lights to add atmosphere to the space. And of course, it’s always fun to end the night with a sparkler sendoff.

A can’t miss venue with a gorgeous modern barn reception space, Fleetwood Farm Winery in Leesburg is hard to beat. Both the bride and the groom have separate getting ready spaces on property to begin the day. Their ceremony space feels like a secret garden. Yet it’s completely neutral for your own wedding ceremony vision to take flight. (We’ve seen some incredible ceremony decor here!) Because it’s not far off Route 50, the venue has a great location if you’re planning a church ceremony anywhere in Northern Virginia. We love the marble fireplace that adds a modern and elevated touch to the space. Yet the wooden accents help give the space a bit of character without interfering with your wedding vision. After a night enjoying the expansive reception space, feel free to end with a sparkler sendoff.

You can also check out our blog post on Shannon + Spencer’s elopement here (note that this was photographed before the barn reception space was built and the “getting ready” photos were taken in a room no longer used for weddings to my knowledge.)
If a romantic garden wedding venue is your cup of tea, Oatlands Historic House and Gardens in Leesburg absolutely must be on your list. This is definitely one of the best garden wedding venues in Northern Virginia! The property features space for “getting ready.” (We photographed a wedding where the bridal party was getting ready in a smaller building on property. It appears that there is now a bridal suite in the main manor house itself.) A “first look” in the hedges of the garden is one of the most romantic and private places you could imagine for such a special moment!
If you’re looking for a venue with ceremony space, it’s hard to beat Oatlands. The gardens are incredibly romantic! Follow up your ceremony with a cocktail hour in the gardens. This allows guests to explore the absolutely beautiful space for themselves. They can enjoy the fountains and other decor for an incredibly romantic atmosphere. Finally, enjoy your wedding reception in the tent already on the property. The tent includes a romantic draped ceiling and chandeliers already provided. Alternatively, host an al fresco celebration on the lawn or in the gardens itself!

One of the most timeless wedding venues in Northern Virginia is Raspberry Plain Manor in Leesburg. The large manor has a beautiful ballroom featuring huge wood-toned windows to add interest to the room without heavily influencing the style of the wedding being held within, and of course every beautiful ballroom needs a stunning chandelier! The manor does feature additional rooms for the wedding party to get ready in the morning, and space for guests to enjoy cocktail hour without disturbing the main ballroom. The property outside has a ceremony space with a view of the open fields beyond, and a small garden perfect for romantic portraits.

Owned by the same organization as Raspberry Plain Manor above, Rose Hill Manor is another classic and romantic wedding venue in Loudoun County. This venue feels slightly smaller than Raspberry Plain Manor but still seats plenty of guests making it work well for all but the absolute largest weddings. (Additional spaces may be available for extra large weddings, so check with them directly!) What it lacks in size, it makes up for in charming features.
There are rooms available for the wedding party to get ready in the morning. There are greenery and garden backdrops around the property for romantic portraits. A timeless and private-feeling outdoor ceremony space is on the patio, or use it for a cocktail hour al fresco! There is also a small ballroom perfect for an indoor ceremony option, or to hold the buffet and dessert tables. Of course, the large ballroom is a must for the main events of the reception. We love the balcony overlooking the main ballroom which allows for a unique perspective on the wedding festivities below! Finally, we can confirm this venue allows sparkler sendoffs to cap off the perfect night.

To enjoy a true historic home with simple gardens as your backdrop, Rust Manor House is a beautiful choice. The house itself has plenty of space for the bride and groom’s respective parties to get ready for the day. Meanwhile, the main level of the house makes for a great welcome + cocktail hour space. There’s also a beautiful library on the main level for moody or romantic indoor portraits or staged “getting ready” photos. If you’ll be having a ceremony on property, you can choose between having the ceremony with the house itself as a backdrop, or make use of the open garden space. Both the historic house and the gardens make for beautiful portrait backdrops as well. Then enjoy your reception in the classic tent featuring pre-installed chandeliers.

If you want a backyard wedding vibe but in a beautiful farmhouse with a designated reception space, Blue Hill Farm is the perfect option for you! Located in Waterford (just north of Leesburg), this is one of the most beautiful backyard wedding venues in Northern Virginia. Inside the farmhouse is plenty of space for both the bride and groom’s parties to get ready separately. The property is a totally functional house that also serves as an AirBnB, so feel free to make your breakfast and coffee in the full kitchen and let your family hang out in the living areas for a relaxed morning together. For an outdoor ceremony, it’s hard to beat the incredible views of the farmhouse’s backyard!
The large property has plenty of beautiful spaces for wedding party and bride/groom portraits, and gets stunning golden hour light in good weather. For your reception, enjoy their newly renovated carriage house for a smaller gathering. Alternatively, larger celebrations may choose a reception on the lawn under your own tent rental or al fresco, weather permitting.

For a wedding venue with a bit more of its own character, Stone Manor Boutique Inn in Lovettsville is one of the most charming wedding venues in Northern Virginia. Start the day in the Inn with tons of space to get ready with the wedding parties and even host other family or out of town guests the night before the wedding. This venue is one of the coolest outdoor wedding venues in Northern Virginia, featuring a woodland ceremony space surrounded by tall trees and a series of adorable wooden benches. There are gardens and greenery all around the property for you to use for your wedding party and bride/groom portraits.
You can do cocktail hour in the main gathering space of the manor, al fresco on the patio area behind the inn, or potentially in the small separate building on the property. Alternatively, your reception could be held in this building depending on your guest count. It’s a beautiful neutral space with plentiful windows! If your wedding is larger or you want to enjoy the outdoors a bit more, you can instead hold your reception in the tent on the property. Finally, I like to note that the adorable white metal structure on the property lights up at night. It makes for a fun photo op for night portraits!
