Dani and Connor’s Blue Hill Farm wedding was nothing short of magical. These two college sweethearts  met through a mutual friend. Eventually, they found their way from Virginia to Michigan. They now live there with their beloved dog, Wavey. Connor proposed to Dani during a romantic vacation hike. From there the planning for their Northern Virginia wedding began.

They chose to return to Virginia to say “I do,” surrounded by the friends and family who mean the most to them. As soon as they visited Blue Hill Farm, they knew it was the perfect venue – and I couldn’t agree more. Nestled in the rolling hills of Northern Virginia, a Blue Hill Farm wedding is undeniably stunning! Sweeping views, a cozy farmhouse that doubles as a bed and breakfast, a renovated barn, and charming animals (yes, including a very sweet resident dog and flocks of chickens and parakeets!). It’s no wonder this venue has unquestionably become one of my personal favorites.

Getting Ready for a Blue Hill Farm Wedding

The day began upstairs in the farmhouse, where Dani got ready with her girls. With the help of her mom, her maid of honor, and her new mother-in-law, she slipped into her gown before giving her bridesmaids a sweet “first look” moment on the stairs. From there, we set up her true first look with Connor behind the farmhouse. It was such a tender and emotional moment, made even more meaningful as the couple exchanged private vows in that quiet pocket of the property.

After portraits in the sun-drenched fields, Wavey joined us for some truly adorable shots. Not only did she pose like a pro, but she also had the special job of serving as the “flower pup” during the ceremony. The couple said their vows under a vibrant floral arch, surrounded by panoramic views of the countryside. It was the kind of ceremony that perfectly blended joyful laughter, heartfelt tears, and wide-open skies.

A Cozy Reception at Blue Hill Farm with Personal Touches

The Blue Hill Farm wedding reception was a beautiful mix of tented celebration and barn coziness. The design featured rustic wood textures, bright florals, and also thoughtful touches like a personalized stone at each place setting. Though Wavey couldn’t attend the reception, she was still part of the fun – her portrait graced the can koozie favors, and she even had a signature drink named after her!

As the sun dipped below the horizon, we snuck away for golden hour portraits – some of my favorite images from the entire day. I especially loved the weeping willow as light filtered through the branches. Dani and Connor glowed in the warm light, enjoying a few quiet moments together before heading back to dance the night away. The evening was full of laughter, games, and celebration – from a custom photo booth to their lively “shot-ski,” the fun never stopped.

Before their sparkler sendoff, the couple shared a private last dance, swaying together in the middle of the dance floor. It was such a beautiful way to end their Blue Hill Farm wedding – intimate, joyful, and full of love. It was truly an honor to document every part of their day, and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next!
