Welcome to Beauty of the Soul Studio. Led by photographer Emily, we were founded to fill the need for wedding photography "for the intentional" - the brides + grooms who are choosing to celebrate their marriage, not just throw a good party. Our goal is always to capture the beauty of the "soul" of your wedding with bright, bold, and romantic photography.

This wedding was especially sweet for me because it was one of my first weddings as Emily Annette Photography…. but also because it’s a super untraditional wedding that really should be considered an elopement!
Elizabeth and Aaron are such an impressive team. Aaron is an environmental science professor in Canada, and Elizabeth is a science writer for a foundation in DC. They met at a conference in the Netherlands and she told me “it was love at first sight – something neither of us believed in….until now.” How romantic is that???
What’s more impressive than their individual accomplishments/careers is their commitment to each other since that conference. They’ve been an internationally long distance couple since then, as both have been committed to their work and Elizabeth’s teenage daughter’s education. And they’ll continue to be long distance couple until her daughter graduates, which makes this wedding even sweeter.
They had a small ceremony at The Lorien Hotel and Spa. They had a beautiful suite with a balcony overlooking Old Town Alexandria – a perfect place for just the two of them and Elizabeth’s family to celebrate their love.
