When you live in the greater DC area, there’s nothing more classic than a DC engagement session and that’s exactly what Stephanie and Ben wanted! They opted for a session by the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC, as they especially loved the view of the Washington Monument across the Potomac River from the Jefferson Memorial.  The impending rain cut the session a little short but made for some dramatic skies in the background.  She wore a pretty peach dress with a glam pair of heels, and he wore a classic blue plaid button up with navy slacks.

Stephanie and Ben met on the dating app Hinge. Both of them coincidentally knew the other was “the one” when Stephanie met Ben’s family, just three weeks after they started dating!  On their two year dating anniversary while in Myrtle Beach, he gave her a charm and two spacers for her Pandora bracelet earlier in the day. When she was not looking, he snuck the ring in the box with her bracelet. They had dinner reservations for that night, and the initial plan was for her to open her bracelet box as she was getting ready – But, she always puts on her makeup first and Ben realized that she’d cry tears of joy… but then would have to redo her makeup. So he very conspicuously gave her her Pandora box… She opened it, and he got down on one knee. Stephanie said she cried tears of joy, and was extremely grateful she had not put her makeup on yet!

These two will be tying the knot at The Villa in Maryland next year and I’m so excited for their big day! One of my first weddings ever photographed as the lead photographer was at The Villa and it will be fun to return a few years later as a more experienced pro.
