Lovancy and Chuckie had a beautiful fall wedding at St. Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church and the Old Town Hall in Fairfax, Virginia. You may recognize these two from their engagement session blog post earlier this year! We did their engagement session this summer at the historic Old St. Mary’s church. Getting to know these two during their engagement season has been so amazing and I loved getting to capture their wedding day.

They got engaged exactly one year before their wedding, in the very church where they got married. Chuckie proposed to Lovancy in front of the statue of St. Joseph. Going back to this church for their wedding day was so special.

The day of their engagement and wedding is the feast of St. Pope John Paul II, who has been influential in both of their lives. In addition to their own personal devotion and admiration of the saint, St. JPII had happened to be visiting the NICU where Lovancy was staying as a preemie newborn and gave her a blessing, and Chuckie had also received a blessing from St. JPII while visiting Rome.

Lovancy and Chuckie consecrated their relationship to Jesus through Mary, so they chose to present flowers to Mary during their ceremony, which is common in Catholic weddings. They took out two flowers from the bouquet and presented them to their mothers in the pews immediately after the presentation, which I thought was such a beautiful tribute that I hadn’t experienced before as a Catholic wedding photographer!

During their ceremony the priest spoke about how, when he first met Lovancy and Chuckie together, he was struck by the tenderness they have for one another, and I couldn’t agree more. These two were clearly made for each other!

They had their wedding reception at the Old Town Hall in Fairfax, Virginia. The tables were decorated with colored daisies and burgundy to match the bridesmaids dresses. During the reception, Lovancy and Chuckie marked their entrance by “jumping the broom” which was so fun!
