Daniela and Josh’s engagement photos at The Kennedy Center was nothing short of magical. As a Northern VA wedding photographer, I’ve been to some stunning locations, but there’s something about this spot that makes it feel extra special. So it’s no wonder it’s considered one of the best places to take engagement photos in DC.
The evening couldn’t have been more perfect. The sun dipped low over the Potomac, casting that dreamy golden hour glow across the river. The white stone walls of the Kennedy Center reflected the light beautifully, wrapping Daniela and Josh in a vibrant glow.
These two met on Hinge, which has become such a fun common thread among my couples lately! Next, they’ll be getting married this fall at The Atrium at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. It’s one of my favorite venues in Northern Virginia. (I just recently photographed Megan and Rob’s wedding there!)
For their Kennedy Center engagement photos, we started with a casual look – Daniela in a light, breezy dress and Josh in a cool button-down. They were so natural together, laughing easily, holding hands, and braving a windy day with patience and joy. The breeze added movement to her dress and gave the photos such a whimsical touch.
But when they changed into their dressier outfits, the session truly came alive. Daniela wore a green-and-white patterned dress with a slit in the skirt, and Josh kept things classic with khakis and a crisp white shirt. Against the backdrop of the weeping trees and the glowing sunset, they looked effortlessly elegant.
If you’re planning your own engagement session, Kennedy Center engagement photos are always a favorite of mine. The sweeping terrace, the water views, and the incredible light make it one of the best places to take engagement photos in DC. Whether couples want playful, romantic, or modern portraits, this location offers it all.
As a Northern VA wedding photographer, I love helping my couples find spaces that feel both iconic and personal. The Kennedy Center is perfect because it blends the grandeur of DC with quiet, intimate corners for heartfelt moments. For Daniela and Josh, it was the ideal setting to celebrate this season of their love story before saying “I do.”
I left their session feeling so inspired – not just by the location, but by their genuine smiles and the ease of their love. Photographing couples like Daniela and Josh is why I adore this job. I truly cannot wait to capture their Meadowlark Botanical Gardens wedding this fall!
