Grace and Trae had an amazing and romantic fall wedding at Gunston Hall in Lorton, Virginia. I love fall wedding days, and theirs was so special to capture! Their engagement session took place in Spring 2020, with their wedding planned for Fall 2020. They had their own small wedding on the original date, but moved their big celebration to 2021 and that’s when I got to celebrate with them. To see their engagement photos on the blog, check it out here!
Grace was actually secretly pregnant on their big day! The only reason I knew was because she decided to tell her dad during a private father-daughter first look that I photographed. It felt so special to be in on the secret! They’ve since had a little boy!
They had their ceremony at Gunston Hall, an 18th century Gregorian mansion. It is beautiful! I loved the southern romance of their ceremony on the long driveway flanked by tall trees and the manor in the background. We had perfect fall weather for the ceremony, and they had some blankets out for guests in case it got too chilly.
After the traditional father-daughter dance and mother-son dance, Grace chose to have a special dance with her mom and three brothers. It was a sweet surprise and they had a ton of fun spinning around the dance floor. Grace and Trae’s wedding had the most crazy and fun dancing I’ve ever experienced at a wedding! They had some very talented dancers in attendance, and DJ Luccio did an awesome job of keeping the party going with fun music.
Another fun thing they did at their wedding reception was their telephone guest book! This is a recent trend I’ve seen at wedding days and it is such a unique and fun idea. Instead of a traditional guest book where you just write your name, guests can leave a voice message for the bride and groom to listen back on after the wedding day.
I often see the outdoor areas of a wedding reception go to waste, but Grace and Trae’s wedding had a whole other party going on outside in the courtyard! There was cornhole, socializing, and a big group toast with shots at the very end of the night.
Their wedding day was so much fun and I’m so excited to share some highlights from their day on the blog. Congratulations Grace and Trae!
