I rented a new camera for this shoot and I’m so excited to share the results! Amanda was a gorgeous subject for this sunrise portrait session at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC to celebrate her graduation from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. I got the chance to test out the Sony A7 iii, a mirrorless camera that’s been taking the photography industry by storm with its small size, reasonable price tag (for a professional level camera!), incredibly sharp focus, beautiful depth, digital viewfinder, low-light capabilities, and impressive “eye autofocus” feature which automatically recognizes and focuses on eyes while shooting. I had a blast using the camera – the depth made the photos really stand out even straight out of camera, and the sharpness blew my Nikon d800 out of the water. It certainly helps that we had a perfect sunrise morning, no crowds at the memorial, and a gorgeous graduate!
