Welcome to Beauty of the Soul Studio. Led by photographer Emily, we were founded to fill the need for wedding photography "for the intentional" - the brides + grooms who are choosing to celebrate their marriage, not just throw a good party. Our goal is always to capture the beauty of the "soul" of your wedding with bright, bold, and romantic photography.

One thing that brings pure, unadulterated joy to a photographer is a perfect clear sky during golden hour. Grace and Peter’s engagement session at Green Spring Gardens Park had just that, and it was a dream! The early spring foliage combined with the beautiful evening light made for the perfect engagement session.
Grace and Peter are already one of my favorite couples ever! They’re the sweetest people, and so much fun; they met thanks to their local theater troupe, and share a love of nerding out, especially over all things fantasy & medieval. In fact, they almost opted to wear Renaissance Faire attire for part of their engagement session. It also helps that when I asked them what part of their wedding day they’re most looking forward to, Grace immediately answered that she already can’t wait to see their wedding photos. Talk about a dream client moment! We had a lovely time chatting throughout their engagement session and they really warmed up to the camera by the time we were finished so I know they’re going to rock their wedding day portraits too!
Green Spring Gardens Park is such a gorgeous location, and I photograph here so often that I have an entire page on my dedicated to it. It’s an amazing Northern Virginia engagement session location. Even in the early spring before everything was in full bloom, the park still had some beautiful florals including vibrant tulips and sunny daffodils. The pond and gazebo are beautiful year round as well, and we even found a new spot to shoot – a cute, tiny bridge over a creek leading to the pond just a few yards away.
Our session was squeezed in just before Grace and Peter get married, as their big day is this coming Saturday! They’ll be tying the knot at Rust Manor House in Leesburg, Virginia. I’ll have the pleasure of working with their planner/coordinator Moriah with The One Moment Events; I’ve worked with her on a couple of weddings before and can’t wait to work with her again. It’s going to be an incredible day full of flowers and light and joy, and I’m so excited for it!
