As a Catholic wedding photographer, I find joy in capturing the essence of each couple’s unique story. The wedding of Sarah Diane and Matt was truly one for the books! The day began at Sarah Diane’s house, a space filled with laughter and excitement as she and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day. The setting of her study, where her dress and other details were photographed, holds a special place in her heart, making those moments even more poignant.

The morning was bustling with activity. Her mother and maid of honor played pivotal roles, assisting Sarah Diane as she stepped into her beautiful wedding dress. We captured heartfelt photos outside her home, setting the tone for what was to become an overall deeply meaningful day.

Catholic Wedding at St. Joseph’s Church

The ceremony took place at the stunning St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cockeysville, MD. The church was freshly adorned after extensive renovations. It shone splendidly as Sarah Diane and Matt were the first couple to exchange vows in the new sacred space. The emotional weight of the ceremony was palpable, with Sarah Diane shedding tears of joy, truly moved by the sanctity of their union. Their ceremony particularly reminded me of Max and Sarah’s Catholic wedding at the newly-renovated St. Patrick in Fredericksburg, Virginia last summer.

One of the day’s highlights was the newlyweds ringing the church bells, a celebratory symbol of their marriage. Post-ceremony, we took a moment to honor family tradition with Sarah Diane posing in front of the statue of Mary, echoing a cherished photograph of her mother on her own wedding day.

Wedding Photos at Loch Raven Resevoir

Our adventure continued at Loch Raven Reservoir, a place of significant sentimental value as it was the location of Sarah Diane and Matt’s first in-person date. Despite the no-picnicking rule now in place, we managed to capture a playful moment of the couple ‘illegally’ picnicking, which brought out hearty laughs from everyone.

As dusk fell, the bride and groom took a few more sentimental photos on the dock where Matt proposed.

Catholic Wedding Reception at Sheraton Baltimore North

The celebration transitioned to the Sheraton Baltimore North in Towson, MD, where a private cocktail hour for the wedding party allowed for some downtime before the grand reception. The ballroom was a vision of elegance, perfectly mirroring the couple’s wedding theme with its blue uplighting and sophisticated decor.

The reception was a vibrant affair, with dancing and joyous interactions filling the evening. The presence of many children at the wedding further added an extra spark to the bustling dance floor.

Documenting Sarah Diane and Matt’s Catholic wedding was not just about the beautiful settings or the detailed arrangements—it was about capturing the moments of unbridled joy, the tears of happiness, and the communal celebration of love. Each photograph tells a story of faith, love, and community, the very essence of a Catholic wedding.
