Gabby and Ben’s Atrium at Meadowlark wedding brought together everything I love about early fall in Northern Virginia. Crisp air, colorful gardens, and a celebration that felt truly joyful from start to finish. Actually, their story goes all the way back to our college days at Marymount University, where I first met them through mutual friends. Even back then, they radiated kindness and fun. So when Gabby asked me to photograph their wedding, I was thrilled to say yes!
We had already captured their engagement photos in Georgetown earlier this year, and they were naturals in front of the camera. I knew their Meadowlark Botanical Gardens wedding would be something special.
The morning began at Gabby’s childhood home, buzzing with laughter and relatives greeting each other with hugs. Despite the excitement, Gabby was calm and steady – ready to marry her best friend. Once she dressed, we headed to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens for her first look with Ben.
They chose a spot on the Great Lawn overlooking Lake Caroline. The view was framed by the early fall foliage just starting to turn. The sunlight filtered softly through the trees, wrapping them both in that signature golden glow that every Northern VA wedding photographer dreams of capturing. Their first look was sweet and joy-filled. And afterward, we took portraits surrounded by the quiet beauty of the gardens. It was the perfect start to their Meadowlark Botanical Gardens wedding day.
Their ceremony took place on the patio outside the Atrium, with a floral arch blooming behind them. The gardens stretched into the distance. One of the most meaningful moments was when Gabby’s mother performed the crowning ceremony, a cherished Orthodox tradition that added such a heartfelt touch. The mix of faith, family, and nature made this Atrium at Meadowlark wedding feel both sacred and joyful.
After the ceremony, we headed into the greenhouse for a few more portraits. This is always one of my favorite parts of photographing here. The Atrium itself, with its soaring glass walls and lush greenery, looked stunning as the sun began to dip lower in the sky. Later, dinner was a delicious Italian meal followed by a packed dance floor.
As a Northern VA wedding photographer with over 10 years of experience, I’ve photographed Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in every season, and it never disappoints. The Atrium offers that rare combination of natural beauty and elegant indoor comfort. It feels like celebrating in a greenhouse filled with light and life. Gabby and Ben’s wedding day reminded me why this venue is one of my favorites: every corner tells a story, and every photo reflects the joy of the couple who chose it.
If you’re planning your own Atrium at Meadowlark wedding, know that it’s a place where beauty, nature, and love come together perfectly. And after photographing several weddings and engagement photos at Meadowlark, I’m always game for another!
