I am so excited to share Sara and Matt’s engagement session in Old Town, Alexandria. Sara is a close friend of mine, and she’s even the godmother of my son! It was so special to be able to capture engagement photos for her and Matt.
Sara and Matt met on Catholic Match in 2020. Dating during the pandemic wasn’t easy, but clearly they were able to make it work and it was all worth it. After two years of dating, Matt popped the question at Ford’s landing in Alexandria. He proposed surrounded by rose petals and photos of the two of them together. Their friends and family were hiding and recording the proposal to surprise Sara after. It was so romantic! Now they are planning their dream wedding day and I can’t wait!
For their engagement photos outfit, Sara decided to incorporate her favorite color – pink. She wore an adorable, flirty, hot pink dress around Old Town for their photos. She looked so beautiful, and the fun color really popped.
Old Town was the perfect place to do their engagement session because it’s a common date night spot and close to their church. It’s one of my personal favorite locations in Virginia for engagement photos, and I’ve highlighted it on my website here! There are always new perspectives and variety to make every session unique.
One of my favorite parts about sessions in Old Town is all the pretty places to stop for portraits. The historic homes, brick walkways, cobblestones, and greenery everywhere make it so romantic. There are beautiful hidden archways and iron gates all around. There is no where else like it!
After walking around Old Town, we took a short walk for photos at Waterfront Park. I’m obsessed with the current art installation there! It’s a large neon sign that reads “I Love You”, and lights up right before sunset. It was the perfect spot for an epic engagement photo for these two. Along the waterfront there are also docks and boats lined up which gave us a coastal marina feel to end their session with. It was the best of both worlds and gave them lots of variety all within a short walk.
