Kayla and Isaac were married this month in a beautiful Catholic ceremony at St. Mary of Sorrows. We started our celebration of their wedding day with their ceremony. It was such a special one. Their wedding mass was also a mass celebrating the vigil of the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, and the priest spoke beautifully on the significance of Kayla and Isaac entering into the covenant of marriage on this day in particular.
We had unseasonably comfortable weather for mid June here in Northern Virginia, so we were able to fully enjoy taking portraits both midday and just before sunset. The weather was perfect for their wedding day. It also meant guests were able to enjoy some fun lawn games and hanging out on the porch. They had an outside bar with custom drinks and hors d’oeuvres for all the guests.
After their ceremony we took bride and groom portraits around the church and Historic Blenheim. The church was a small white building with beautiful historic windows and a red church spire. It was so beautiful for just married bride and groom portraits.
During the reception, Kayla did a money dance where guests could have fun dancing with the bride if they put a dollar in her apron. Everyone was having a blast getting their chance to dance with the bride. Because their wedding took place on Father’s Day weekend, Isaac chose to give a touching speech honoring both his own father and his new father-in-law; the men were so clearly joyful to be celebrating on their wedding day and the speech was such a touching moment.
At their reception they had giant foam glow sticks. Partying with glow sticks should totally be a more common thing at weddings because it was a blast, and the photos are so cool! It also made for a very fun exit at the end of the night.
To see Kayla and Isaac’s engagement session on his family’s farm, click here! I loved getting to meet these two for their engagement session, and the farm was the perfect place to celebrate their engagement. It had beautiful views of the blue ridge mountains. We had so much fun, and I just knew their wedding day was going to be a good one!
Congratulations, Kayla and Isaac! I am so excited for you both and I loved getting to capture your wedding day. View a sneak peek of their summer wedding day below!
